Dear Students and Parents, Welcome back to school! I am Ms. Cardella and I will be your 5th grade teacher this year. I will also be co-teaching with Miss Rauscher, so you will have the benefit of two teachers for reading, math and writing. Miss Rauscher is a fully certified teacher. You are my 16th class here at Las Brisas! I have taught 5th grade for 12 years and 6th grade for four years. I have two Bachelor’s Degrees and one Master’s Degree. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism and in Elementary Education. My Master’s Degree is also in Elementary Education with an emphasis in reading. I absolutely love being a 5th grade teacher, and have never met a child who has not become a very special part of me!
I am also the mother of three fantastic children. My daughter, Makayla, is a senior this year and my other daughter, Karina, is a freshman. Many of you know my son, Skyler, as he too is a 5th grader here at Las Brisas. I also have an adorable Cocker Spaniel named Saphira. Be prepared to tell me if you know from what book we got Saphira’s name. J
I have a fantastic 5th grade team to collaborate with and of course the addition of Miss Rauscher in our room will only make this year all the more positive, exciting and full of a lot of learning. I look forward to our year together. Teaching is my passion and it continues to inspire me with each new year and each new and amazing student I meet.
Students, I have a lot in store for you as 5th graders. The other 5th grade teachers and I have some amazing field trips planned, as well as many other special activities. Included on this webpage you will find the supply wish list. (look for supply list on the right side of the page) These are only suggestions and you are not required to purchase anything on the list. They are items that you will find helpful to have, and I think they will make life easier for you throughout the school year.
As you all probably know, our first day is Monday, August 16th and school begins at 8:10 am. Don’t forget to bring a lunch or have lunch money with you! I can’t wait to meet you all and get to know you. I am looking forward to a fun, positive year with a lot of exciting learning to be acquired. I really think you are going to enjoy your 5th grade year.
